Loving this new shoot I worked on at the end of last year that has just come out this week. The waiting is the hardest part of my job! (Ive said that a few times) and I knew it was going to be my new favourite. How great is the colour treatment that the photographer has done on the images? I love it. Reminds me of faded old family photo's of summers long gone. .

If you were a fan of Miu Miu's AW11 collection with its 40s style dresses, clean rolled hair, beautiful pale skin and dark stained lip then this shoot had remnants's of that with a bit of a young Katherine Hepburn thrown in. I love the strong return to ladylike chic because with it comes a return of ladylike makeup!...A Chanel lipstick in a gorgeous deep red, a perfectly creamy foundationed skin, a brushed brow and a slick of liner and mascara. Heaven.

For my last post of the year Im leaving you with a bit of Christmas cheer! An image I did of Jess Gold (how very appropriate!!) shot by the one and only Mr Sam Hendel. Clearly it was her name that led me to want to cover her in gold makeup to get this shot! On a day of beauty play your head whirls with a million things you've just wanted to do and try, and getting your fingers in the paints like a frustrated child with a blank canvas is a big part of the fun. Im not sure if Jess was too happy with being covered head to waist in gold before a dinner with friends for the last shot of the day, but I think it was well worth it!

Jess Gold is a country girl from Victoria that has recently started modelling. Whisked overseas quickly to do some amazing upcoming shoots with great photographers she is definately one to watch. As is the great photographer I worked with Sam Hendel.Sam and I had a whole day of doing Beauty with Jess, so I have to save some for later! But here we seem to have channelled a medieval ghostly farm girl. It was a day with no direction, just us and a girl and lots of great pieces to play with. Miss Mia was one of the sweetest young actresses I've ever worked with and she couldn't be more perfect for the film JANE EYRE which I cant wait to see. I think she looks beautiful on the cover for the August issue.

It was one of the windiest days on a headland overlooking the sea, and the rain was chasing our tail. But Will managed to get many beautiful shots of her and Im excited to see the final result. Hope you love as much as I do.

I've always been a believer that a 1950's inspired look was for a bosom and butt blessed kinda girl...both of which I am certainly not.

And even though there were some slimmer ladies of the time, they still all filled out those sweaters quite well, enviously well at times. *

The classic Movie siren look was personified by favourites such as Elizabeth Taylor, Jayne Mansfield, Rita Hayworth, and Marilyn Monroe to name just a few.

Currently doing the look justice is Joan of the Mad Men series, who just looks incredible in everything! she wears, and makes me jealous of her curves. (t.o.t.a.l.l.y hooked on this show)

However, this all changed when I worked on this shoot with Catherine for Australian Vogue, channelling the famous actress Sophia Loren in all her Italian youthful glory.

We had the set.. a gorgeous palatial home with incredible gardens overlooking the Bay, racks and racks of the latest looks from all the designers, and hair (the talented Mr Daren Borthwick) and makeup (me!) ready to go..

In walked Catherine.. looking like a beanstalk, metres tall in just an oversized sweater, thick tights "I cant remember if they're Prada or American Apparel" (sigh. wish I had this problem) and sky high ankle boots ready to be transformed.

A little weary and jetlagged, she still had that stroke of shyness that some people get when they first walk into a room of strangers and can hardly lift their eyes..and which is sometimes mistaken for arrogance or rudeness.

I knew it was neither as I remembered the girl I had worked with quite a few times just a few years ago...and she knew all of us.

It had just been a long while.

She warmed and woke up getting her hair and makeup done, we laughed about amusing past shoots (hello Mauritius) and we all got to it.

It was cold (yes it gets cold here!!) but the sun was out and Catherine transformed into the character of the day (or 2 days as it were), and totally changed my mind about the skinny girl and the 50s.

She looked amazing, and very Sophia Loren. Nic's pictures are beautiful and show Catherine in a way I havent seen her in other editorials.

I love this shoot even more than I remembered on the day when I saw it in the Magazine this week.

And a shoot you REALLY love only happens now and then..and this is definately one of those.

JULIA NOBIS THE RATBAG

Julia Nobis IS what we can in Australia endearingly call a Ratbag. Whilst the Aussie slang dictionary defines the word as "a troublemaker or someone causing havoc" Julia has given the word new meaning.

She is a part quirky, part naughty girl with her sly " I got up to mischief last night" smile, and part women with a little angst thrown in.

She has that "I dont give a fuck" kinda attitude with a personal style that matches it to boot. Whatever was on the floor beside the bed that morning is what she has thrown on. And when you are as long and lanky as she is, it really could have been the pizza box and she would still look amazing.

She has just scored the coveted privilege of being put on a Vogue worldwide exclusive so we were very lucky to get to shoot her.

The ever gorgeous Stevie Dance from Russh Magazine managed to wrangle her to shoot for them and thankyou Stevie for choosing me ;) to do the makeup. What fun we had.

A derelict house, some amazing clothes, ranging from thrift to current season, a very laid back photographer (makes an incredible difference to a shoot) some winter sunshine, a whole lotta laughs and off we went.

It was a very good day and I loved this editorial when it came out last issue.

One of our own about to hit the big time...Bella (or her true name Annabella) is a total beauty inside and out. A worldly swirlpool of genes, she looks like a nordic princess but is very proudly Australian. To work with, she is a total chameleon, a dream face for me to work on.

Following in the footsteps of our conveyer belt of beauties, Bella is currently in New York for a little teaser campaign..I hope they dont steal her too soon because I would love to do an endless amount of shoots with her before they do.

Whilst Ive been working for Vogue for years now doing editorials this was MY FIRST COVER for them! There is really nothing like going past a news stand and seeing them all in a row, its quite exciting.

It must be so weird for a model sometimes, all those images of yourself staring back at you everywhere you go.

I think Samantha looks victorious, confident, and extremely gorgeous. An inspiration to a lot of young girls and a true representation of Australian beauty.

Ralph is a smart man, he knows what a women wants to wear. If he was an Aussie he would be friends with Trent, Stuart and John ..and we would be wearing his clothes.

Who wouldn't want to look like any one of these pictures.? Or all of them on a different day! The shoot was great fun.. Beautiful clothes, amazing props (I need that bike!) and a dream team that made it all too easy.

I tried that Apache sweater on..silk/linen gorgeousness!! and you can bet it will be on my back this winter.

Now I just need the torquoise jewellery and to find me a cowboy!

She is a rare bird our Miss Pania Rose, a girl of many guises. She embodies natural beauty at its rarest ...as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.

She is all the things a women would want to be if she could re invent herself, an intoxicating mix of all the contradictory things a women is allowed to be. Warm, classy and a little shy, charming, confident, incredibly kind, funny - really funny, emotional (in a great way) and refined. She makes you want to be a better person.

And unlike most women I know she is at her most comfortable and confident (and gorgeous!!) without a scrap of makeup on..

There are some days you wish you could have back/have more time/do more makeup/do less makeup..the list goes on and on.

I chanced years ago, having a couple of hours with Gemma Ward and Steven Chee to do a beauty test just before she went overseas (like all our good Aussie girls do) and hitting the "big time"

I think we had like 4 hours and Im pretty sure she left the next day.

It was a lucky break for me, an open door, the start of bigger and brighter things and working with amazing photographers. For Gemma...well, she made the millions.

But for me the image is timeless and represents so much. More than anything my freedom to express myself through what I do..

I love my job, some say a little tooo much. What can I say? I love what I do..

My job is especially fun when I get to work with friends, and collaborate to make beautiful pictures. Work and play. What can be better?

Well, thinking about it throw in an exotic location and its pretty damn good.

Our exotic location only stemmed as far as Alexandria for this shoot, and our location a studio, but we had fun. And Pania was in town...always fun. And we did do some beautiful pictures..

The only disappointment was when the issue came out this month and someone else's name was in the credits for makeup.....

The hardest part of doing a fashion shoot is waiting for it to come out..especially when you KNOW its a great one.

You want to share it with the world, with your friends and your peers but it remains locked away in your mind or tucked away in your computer waiting waiting...and they can really make us wait!

Sometimes on a shoot there is a special moment, and for me it can be as simple as an out take at the end of the day when I convince everyone that we absolutely cannot leave unless we do an extra beauty shot..one last picture pretty pleeeeaaasse.

So the model throws on her own clothes, the assistants are packing up, Im throwing more makeup on the model and the photographer does a few extra frames..

..and sheer magic happens.
